25 years in Business: Highlights from 2023

As we start into a new year in 2024, it is only fitting to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve experienced together in 2023. This year has been a series of achievements, growth, and meaningful connections as Brandon Bioscience celebrated its 25th year in business.

As we delve into the highlights that defined our path, we are excited to share the pivotal moments, milestones, and lessons that have shaped our narrative in 2023.

New Partnerships

Earlier in the year, our PSIĀ® Technology biostimulant MARTELLOĀ® was launched in Chile with our partners ANASAC. We had the privilege of attending the launch in the beautiful city of Santiago, Chile. Meeting over 200 key growers from across Chile, we had the opportunity to share the benefits and results of MARTELLOĀ®, which aids plants in tackling abiotic stresses. It was great to connect with these passionate individuals and see their enthusiasm for the potential of MARTELLOĀ®. Looking ahead, we are very excited to see how MARTELLOĀ® will grow and thrive throughout Chile. We are incredibly grateful to be working alongside ANASAC, as we pave the way for a brighter future together.

New Research

At Brandon Bioscience, we pioneer the research of marine based biomolecules and their application as crop based biostimulants. In 2023, our research team published their 15th peer-reviewed scientific article. The latest publication on our PSIĀ® 475 Precision Technology; ā€œTranscriptome, Biochemical and Phenotypic Analysis of the Effects of a Precision Engineered Biostimulant for Inducing Salinity Stress Tolerance in Tomatoā€ has been published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences. This latest publication brings a new level of detail as we combine transcriptome data with metabolite partitioning in different tissues within the plant resulting in long-term protective effects on salinity stressed plants. Well done to all of our research team on their publication and weā€™re looking forward to whatā€™s to come. View the paper here.

CE Mark

CE Mark Success

Since July 2022, we continue to certify our portfolio of biostimulants. In 2023, we certified an additional two products in our portfolio which now lets them carry a CE mark on all packaging with full access to the EU market. One of our newest CE Marks is our plant biostimulant PSIĀ®362 Precision Technology, a product designed to enhance nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), was the third biostimulant within its portfolio approved under the new EU Fertilising Products Regulation (FPR) 2019/1009. PSIĀ®362, when coated on N fertiliser granules, stimulates N uptake mechanisms in the plant to take up more of the available N in the soil than they would normally do. The justification of PSIĀ®362 claim on enhanced NUE was verified by an independent national Notified Body for the whole broadacre crop group through two well-known NUE markers (kg crop/kg N fert and kg N crop/kg N fert).

Award Winning

We finished the year by picking up an award. It was our privilege to have been awarded the AgTech Ireland Best Agritech Science Product Award at the FBD Better Farming Awards for our PSIĀ®362 Precision Technology. Our PSIĀ®362 Precision Technology is expertly coated onto NPK fertiliser granules and helps farmers across Ireland use up to 25% less nitrogen on farm.

Continuing to Grow

Our 25th year brought about new team members to the Brandon Bioscience family. Juan Francisco PhD joined us as R&D Scientist following his completion and successful defense of his PhD earlier this year on Transcriptional Regulation of Auxin Dependent Organogenesis. We also had Brett Wesley join us as Biostimulant Product Manager. Brett brings with him a wealth of knowledge from previous sales and agronomy roles. 2023 also was the year that our team moved to our new premises and state of the art laboratories. While still maintaining our laboratory space at Munster Technological University Kerry, we are now able to widen our capabilities for our customers as well as bring our new innovative technologies to market.

We look forward to working with our customers and partners in 2024. We hope to see you at key events throughout the year or alternatively, speak to a member of our team.
